A great example of this in our SS12 range is the ‘Esk’. This stretch-fit, fleece layer is a replacement for the more traditional, heavy sweater or wind-shirt still found in the game today. The garment is incredibly lightweight and flexible, making it infinitely more comfortable than some of the knitwear you see in the market.
That’s the direction we’re moving in. The fabric is so much better, and golfers will realise that it’s much more comfortable to play in, and you can still benefit from all the same weather-resistant properties you’d find in a traditional wind-shirt. It could well be the case that golfers of every level will begin to move away from lined knitwear.
Climatic conditions
It’s obvious that the market is becoming more sports focused and our entire SS12 catalogue focuses on the comfort and functionality that these designs can bring to golf. In the Dixon polo, we utilise a new fabric called polyamide Lycra. This is an incredibly comfortable material that’s also very cool to touch, promoting a preferable inner climate. This is essential in the current market. Furthermore, all our garments are designed for wear both in the clubhouse and on the course. The long-lasting comfort promoted in our materials allows golfers to do this, and remain contented for hours on end.
Mesh texture is also a theme throughout, and this is prevalent in the Beck polo shirt and the Harley. It promotes a modern, sporty look, so it’s following that trend again.
Aside from sports and performance centred fabrics, our 2012 colour stories are designed to attract all ages of golfer.
