The trade show season used to start in Munich at the end of September – and during Oktoberfest – but with the cancellation of Golf Europe for 2011, the trade has been given an added month’s grace until the Golf Show in Harrogate takes place from October 25-27. After its debut last year the Golf Show organisers – the PGA, Foremost and TGI – claimed the new event was already “Europe’s leading golf trade and educational event”.

This was premature, but with Golf Europe mothballed, 2011 presented a great opportunity for the Golf Show to establish itself as the European number one.

However, SGB Golf understands that exhibitor numbers for 2011 in Harrogate are set to remain on a par with last year’s event – around 60 - and that the show will occupy the same three halls at the Harrogate International Centre. We understand that exhibition space did sell out faster than in 2010, and that the show is expecting to welcome more than the 1,250 industry professionals that attended in 2010, judging by registrations so far.

Golf Show exhibitors must be existing suppliers to the Foremost or TGI groups – or at least not be in direct competition with accredited suppliers – but if the PGA and the buying groups really want Harrogate to be the continent’s leading trade event, they will need to open its doors to more brands.
