Sunice to protect US Solheim Cup team
Published:  04 October, 2011

Never can more scrutiny have gone into selecting waterproofs for team golf, than for the 2011 US Solheim Cup team. The debacle of the 2010 Ryder Cup at Celtic Manor, at which the US team’s Sun Mountain waterproofs could not have failed in more dramatic circumstances, is yet to fade from the memory of the players, officials, spectators (and media) alike.

And with the 2011 Solheim Cup set to unfold at Killeen Castle in Ireland’s County Meath later this month, we can hardly expect a week of uninterrupted sunshine.

So Canadian brand Sunice has been granted the task of keeping the US team dry and comfortable if the weather turns ugly, and pictures of the players’ custom-designed outerwear have just been released.

“The design and development process involved our top product people working in conjunction with Rosie Jones and her assistants,” says Mark Fletcher, president of Sunice.

“Everyone involved had the same objective: to design a great looking rainsuit that would guarantee the players remain dry,” adds Heidi Rowsell, Sunice director of marketing. "We are confident that they will be the stand-out team and we wish them success. By wearing Sunice outerwear we are at least certain that if faced with adverse weather conditions, they can remain focused on the task at hand and not have to worry about staying, warm, dry and comfortable.”
