This is the third time Abacus has dressed the European team, following its debut in 2007 when the tournament was played in Halmstad, Sweden, and then in 2009, at Rich Harvest Farms, Illinois. The European team is yet to win wearing Abacus apparel, so the Swedish brand will hope it is third time lucky at Killeen Castle, near Dublin.
“We have followed our graphic and timeless signature and worked a lot with stripes on polo shirts and tops,” explains Chris Mattsson, head designer for Abacus. “Wind vests and rain jackets have a sportier touch that underline the functionality.”
The 2011 Solheim Cup collection features a distinct colour palette for each day of the week. The core colour for the first day of matches on the Friday will be green, Yellow will dominate on the Saturday, while Sunday’s uniforms are being kept under wraps until the day itself.
