Cleveland Golf’s new Ultralite Series is set to ‘launch’ shots longer and straighter in 2011
Published:  03 March, 2011

A new and innovative ‘Right Weight’ Fitting System is introduced to help fit golfers to the optimum driver that will give them longer, straighter shots.

The golf equipment market has been dominated by the evolution of custom-fitting over the last few years. Cleveland Golf and Srixon have been at the forefront of developments with their UK Centre of Excellence in Maidenhead offering a personalised fitting service that allows golfers to get the perfect equipment to suit their swing and build. But while most golfers now appreciate the importance of getting the right club for their specific needs, there has always been one important element of custom fitting that no manufacturer has ever truly embraced - total weight.

Step in the Cleveland Golf ‘Right Weight’ Fitting System. Designed to match golfers to the perfect weight driver to suit their swing, this unique and innovative concept is a true breakthrough in golf club customisation. Weight is a critical aspect of enhancing driver performance. In general, a lighter driver will generate more clubhead speed, in fact the minimum realistic gain will be three miles per hour of swing speed, which could translate to 10 yards or more, but it can be harder to control causing an increase in shot dispersion and making it difficult for golfers to achieve long and straight drives. Naturally every golfer has different needs and will suit a different weight driver to maximise their distance. The Cleveland Golf Right Weight Fitting System holds the solution and is designed to guide a player into the right weight driver for their game.

There are three different models of driver in the new Cleveland Golf Launcher Ultralite Series, each engineered with a specific total club weight designed to deliver a unique combination of feel, workability and head speed. The Cleveland TL310 is designed to offer a Tour trajectory, the SL290 is a lighter, faster option and the XL270 is the very lightest, fastest option. The three options combine to ensure that the Right Weight Fitting System can cater for every player, no matter what their size, strength or ability, guaranteeing they get a driver withthe proper fit.

Understanding the importance of Right Weight engineering …

Anyone can blindly take weight out of a golf club and call it ‘ultralite’. The challenge is accomplishing ultralite in the RIGHT WAY without making sacrifices. For the Launcher Ultralite Driver Series engineers at Cleveland Golf, Miyazaki golf shafts, Lamkin Grips and Winn Grips collaborated to build ultralite golf clubs the RIGHT WAY. There are three key elements to getting the right weight: proper swingweight, proper head weight and proper shaft profile.

Proper swingweight

Engineering swingweight to fall within the proper traditional range ensures that the club has a consistent feel and helps to maintain tempo and stability.

Proper head weight

Engineering head weight to fall within the proper traditional range ensures that the club has power and energy through impact, which promotes ball speed and forgiveness.

Proper shaft profile

Engineering the proper bending and torsional profiles ensures that the shaft delivers the head in a consistent and stable orientation. The Miyazaki 39 Series is the lightest shaft ever played on the PGA Tour.

Miyazaki Shafts

An exclusive, graphite golf shaft brand, launches the new C. Kua series. Miyazaki Shafts is introducing the new C. Kua series in response to requests from touring professionals and recreational golfers for lighter shafts and increased swingspeed. The materials have improved over the last few years along with manufacturing practices so shafts can be made lighter and stronger, delivering a tour standard product to everyday golfers.
