There is no question that trading conditions have remained difficult in 2010 across the board, and claims of a speedy economic recovery have all but died out, yet as Autumn approaches there are some promising signs of genuine, fresh innovation in the golf market that must reflect a sense of optimism among manufacturers, albeit cautious.
Much of the evidence is packed into this issue of SGB Golf: we focus on Ping’s new K15 range, complete with titanium irons and a premium price point; and thinking of premium price tags, Ecco is introducing minimalist footwear to golf for the start of next year. Dixon Golf is bringing to the UK the first serious eco-friendly golf balls, and Cutter and Buck has announced that it will market a new Annika Collection in Europe for 2011. Products like these are bound to get the tills ringing over the next 12 months.
