Cleveland offers hybrid evolution
The new set of HB3 hybrid irons represents the third generation of HiBore irons from Cleveland Golf
Published:  09 April, 2010

Cleveland promises its new HB3 irons are ‘lighter, faster and longer’ than any previous Cleveland hybrid irons sets. Scheduled for retail delivery from April 1, the new clubs feature a new sole design, with a view to enhancing forgiveness, and Cleveland says the transition from cavity-back irons into hybrids is seamless.

“The HB3 is the ultimate game improvement set of irons,” Ben Davis, Cleveland’s UK/Northern Europe marketing manager, tells SGB Golf. “More and more golfers are realising the benefit of replacing their traditional harder-to-hit irons with hybrids. Put simply, the HB3 irons help make the game easier and more enjoyable for golfers.”

The HB3 soles feature centre recess sections to reduce turf drag, and the set has progressive sole widths with a view to increasing forgiveness as the clubs lengthen. The recess sections also boost the internal weighting of the clubheads, with the centre of gravity being pushed deeper into the clubhead.

The clubs are made lighter thanks to Cleveland’s new Action Ultralite shafts, which are 15 grams lighter than their predecessors and come with a lower kick point. They are intended to enable golfers to increase swing speed and raise the shot trajectory.
