For 2010 Srixon plans to continue to grow and dominate the golf ball market with three new and improved golf balls and increase its strength in hardware sales with two new lines – Z-TX for the better player, and XXIO for game improvers.
Srixon – what’s new for 2010?
AD333
The AD333 has been the best selling two-piece ball in the UK market for the past two and a half seasons and now this superb ball just got even better! The new and improved version of the AD333 offers even faster ball speeds with added spin and feel characteristics, which will appeal to all levels of player.
Trispeed
This new highly advanced three-piece golf ball has been designed to travel a long way, feel great, doesn’t require tour swing speeds and won’t break the bank!
DISTANCE
New and improved for maximum distance, but with a responsive feel and durable cut-proof cover.
Z-TX
The new Z-TX range features a driver, fairway wood, utility club and irons – all of which have benefited from considerable input in the design and testing stages from Srixon’s tour staff. The result is high performance woods that fly further, hybrids that allow the golfer to flight the ball so that they can attack all types of pin positions and forged irons with improved all-round playability thanks to a substantially enlarged sweetspot.
XXIO “6”
Srixon’s new XXIO “6” line focuses on distance and features a titanium-constructed driver, fairway woods, utility woods and irons. All benefit from “Auto Power Impact” technology, designed to increase the launch angle of shots and therefore distance. A bulge and roll design on the face of the woods also increases MOI making them incredibly forgiving, while a “power dumbbell weight” in the hollow sole of the irons has the same effect.
Sister company Cleveland Golf is hoping for similar good fortunes in 2010. It has just unveiled a fantastic new CG15 wedge, which has already received rave reviews in the media, including a Gold Award in Today’s Golfer magazine.
The CG15 is part of Cleveland Golf’s drive to regain its position as the Number One wedge retailer, with a strong focus on short game this season.
The company has also launched a new line of high-performance Launcher DST woods and two sleek-looking sets of irons, the CG7 and CG7 Tour Black Pearl, to complement their wedges.
Cleveland – what’s new for 2010?
Launcher DST woods
The new Launcher DST driver; fairway woods and hybrids have traditional great looks but are packed with technology. With a clubweight of just 292 the DST is the lightest driver in golf, allowing a faster clubhead speed and greater distance. Plus MaxCOR face technology that means even mishits fly straight. The DST is also available in Tour and Draw models. The DST fairway woods and hybrids are the perfect complement offering a powerful ball flight with outstanding forgiveness.
CG & CG7 Tour Black Pearl irons
These are the most advanced irons Cleveland Golf has ever made, offering improved feel, distance and forgiveness. Two key innovations, a Laser milled face and Zip grooves, ensure maximum spin and control on shots. Add to that fantastic feel thanks to a 360° Gelback insert in the head to dampen nasty vibrations from mishits and you have a superb iron.
CG15 wedge
The CG15 features the same advanced groove and milling technology as the irons. Using the precision accuracy of a laser, four perfectly calibrated texture lines are milled between each groove, exactly conforming to the roughness limit. This breakthrough technology optimizes ball-to-face friction and maximises spin under The Rules of Golf. The ZIP grooves (24% larger than conventional grooves) channel the most debris out of the groove at impact to improve contact and maximise spin.
Tour growth and success
At the time of going to press, Srixon and Cleveland combined have seven players in the top 60 of the official world rankings and the companies had nearly 40 wins in 2009 internationally, including Henrik Stenson’s win at the Players Championship.
In fact both Cleveland and Srixon Tour staff have performed strongly since switching to the new Z-Star golf ball.
The list of star performers is long and includes Jim Furyk, Tim Clark, Robert Allenby, Miguel Angel Jimenez and John Rollins for Srixon and Vijay Singh, Fernando Gonzalez Castano, Boo Weekley and David Howell representing Cleveland.
Srixon have also signed the young Irishman Shane Lowry for 2010. It was Lowry who burst on the scene earlier in 2009 when he won the Irish Open as an amateur.
Centre of Excellence
Srixon and Cleveland opened their first custom fit Centre of Excellence in Maidenhead in Berkshire last spring and throughout the year it received brilliant plaudits. The centre’s easy-to-reach location, just minutes from London’s Heathrow Airport, and state-of-the-art Trackman custom fit technology, has made it a popular choice with golfers seeking to find the right equipment to perfectly suit their swing. Booking an appointment at the centre is easy. Golfers can do so by visiting www.clevelandgolf.com or www.srixon.co.uk
Scottish Seniors Open
Cleveland and Srixon are proud sponsors of the 2010 Scottish Seniors Open, which takes place at The Home of Golf, St Andrews, on August
20-22nd. Once again The Fairmont St Andrews plays host to the tournament, which will see some of the world’s finest senior golfers battle for this prestigious title around the venue’s tough Torrance Course.
PGA play offs
Srixon is also the title sponsor of the PGA play offs, bringing the three leading players from the final order of merit in each of the seven regions of the PGA to a grand final at Little Aston near Birmingham in the autumn of 2010.
2010 outlook
While the golf market continues to be extremely depressed, both Cleveland Golf and Srixon are expecting a strong performance in 2010. With the exciting new products they both have in highly influential categories, the brands are poised for further growth in 2010.
