Coming to you Live
Golf Live is a golf show with a new format, which is set to debut at Stoke Park in May. James Goode, event director at show producers Brand Events, explains why he believes Golf Live will succeed where other shows have failed
Published:  17 December, 2009

In November well over 100,000 people travelled to Earls Court in London and to the NEC in Birmingham to attend the latest Top Gear Live events.

Top Gear Live, which stars Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May, is an outstanding success for us at Brand Events and we plan to replicate this winning formula when we launch Golf Live at Stoke Park, Buckinghamshire, from Friday May 14 to Sunday May 16, 2010.

Golf Live is an exciting project, featuring Colin Montgomerie, Paul Casey, Ian Poulter, Retief Goosen and a host of other leading golfers and celebrities, and we would like to think that we can utilise the experience we have gleaned staging Top Gear Live, not to mention other public shows like Style in the City and the Taste Festival, to make it one of the highlights of the golfing calendar.

Golf Live has already been described as a ‘golf show with a difference’, but that hardly does justice to an exciting new concept which is unlike any other golf show that has ever been staged.

It would be no exaggeration to suggest that golf shows have had a chequered history, but at Brand Events we are confident we are on to a winner, and one of the reasons for this is the support we have received from our partners at International Management Group (IMG).

Thanks to IMG, we have been able to put together a stellar cast of golfers, celebrities and coaches and they won’t just be at Stoke Park as mere figureheads but as an integral part in everything that goes on during the three days of the Show.

It is not easy to describe Golf Live in a few words because it will feature so many different elements, but the idea behind it is to create a multifaceted, outdoor golf event designed to give amateur golfers of all ages and abilities the chance to indulge in their passion by watching and learning from the best in the game. Note, please, that I said “outdoor”. Most previous golf shows were held indoors where, at best, visitors were limited to hitting balls into nets. At Stoke Park, there will be no such restrictions. If you want, you can hit shots in a real golf course setting. If not, you will be able to move from one area to another letting other golfers entertain you.

At Golf Live the emphasis will be placed firmly on interaction, education and entertainment. Visitors won’t just go to Golf Live to watch the action, but also to take part.

For exhibitors at Golf Live we believe there will be a unique opportunity to interact with 12,000 highly committed golfers, who will be keen to look and listen to what exhibitors have to say and, where possible, to try out their latest offerings. The exhibition area is already over 50% sold and the feedback we are getting from the trade has been fantastic. All retail activity will be at the Golf Live shop, which will be run by the Stoke Park Club, and any exhibitors that have not worked with the club previously will be able to set up an account.

With leading brands such as TaylorMade, Callaway, Yonex and Trendy Golf already committing their support, and more major sponsorship announcements due imminently, the show is already off to a flying start.

Of course, only time will tell if Golf Live will become as popular as shows such as the Taste Festival, but we genuinely believe it will. The track record of Brand Events is second to none when it comes to delivering innovative and entertaining products. We honestly believe we have a winning formula and the right team to deliver another successful event.

Tickets for Golf Live will go on sale at www.golfliveevent.com on February 1 but, in the meantime, we will be endeavouring to sign up further top golfers, coaches and celebrities.

Potential Exhibitors should contact James Goode at Brand Events on 0207 471 1080.
