Greece is one of Europe's most under-explored golf markets, and considering its warm climate, fast-growing economy and thriving tourism trade, it has the potential to become an excellent golf destination. The existing apparel and footwear market is virtually negligible.
Among the reasons for the golf market remaining so under-developed at present are the facts that domestic participation in golf is abysmal, the country's infrastructure is poor, and the government is ambivalent to golf development. Approximately 0.01% of the Greek population plays golf, and the Hellenic Golf Federation estimates that the entire country only has about 800 regular golfers.
Each volume of the BGIA report is available for €2,000 (or €1,000 for BGIA members), or all three volumes together for €5,000 (or €2,500 for BGIA members), and the complete report will be launched at a seminar at Golf Europe on September 28, 1:15pm, in conference room K3/K4 at the MOC. The report will be presented by its editor, Eugenio Di Maria.
