The word ‘Asbri, meaning "spirited" and "vivacious" in Welsh, encapsulates the ethos of the company, and its growth during difficult times for the industry is impressive. The executives have a proven commercial background with the managing director previously employed by Puma and the sales director by Panasonic.
The launch of Asbri Golf in 2004 resulted from the success of its sister company, Asbri Design. In fact, Asbri Design (www.asbri.co.uk) continues to expand and has new design offices opening shortly in central London. Having provided many product design solutions over the past 10 years, including Puma's statement soccer boot for the 2006 World Cup, the funding was secured to launch Asbri Golf. Five years on, Asbri Golf supplies over 350 professional shops across the UK and exports to more than 20 distributors worldwide.
Asbri has succeeded in creating a range of accessories that are both functional and fashionable. Design and quality are of paramount importance. But the brand has been pitched at prices that are seriously competitive for both the retailer and consumer. Indeed, many retailers have long been searching for what Asbri can offer - logo-ed merchandise with low minimum orders, no set-up charges, quick lead times and attentive customer care.
Its range of bespoke products includes golf bags, headwear, towels, umbrellas, pitchforks and many other accessories, all of which can be customised with any club or corporate logo.
One innovative product has been the hugely successful and patented PitchMaster - a fully retractable pitch repair tool. Quoted as the "Ferrari" of pitchmark repairers, the tool has been a huge success and retailers not stocking it already should ask themselves why? Club or corporate logos can be applied to all Asbri's accessories to make them totally exclusive to both the retailer and the customer.
But if a particular club logo doesn't work for the client, Asbri also offers a crested service with Patriot logos. These enable retailers to make the most of national sporting events that trigger a patriotic response from fans.
