Faith

Ping’s Faith Series is designed to encourage high-launching, longer-carrying shots for women golfers. The titanium driver comes in 12° and 14° loft options and the 460cc clubhead features internal weighting that should promote a natural club rotation, with a view to squaring the clubface at impact, for improved accuracy.

Python XLD

The cup clubface design of the Python XLD features what Snake Eyes describes as ‘Dynamically Optimised CT’ – or DOC – which promises to have enlarged the sweetsport on the face, for better ball speeds from all areas. Thin bead plasma welding should also improve weight distribution.

SQ Machspeed Black

Nike says the aerodynamics of the SQ Machspeed Black should lead to less drag, for greater clubhead speed and improved distance. The club is also fitted with Nike’s STR8-Fit adjustable hosel so face angle can be customised. Pictured is the women’s Round model, and a Square clubhead is also available.

MD Golf
Superstrong ST

MD Golf’s Superstrong ST comes with a classic head shape and a long, shallow clubface, with a view to enhancing workability. The club has new Black and Chrome cosmetics and comes in lofts of 9.5°, 10.5° and 12°.

Benross
Quad

Benross says its Quad is the most forgiving driver it has ever produced, featuring exaggerated corner weighting to enhance clubhead stability at impact. The broad clubface should also boosts forgiveness.

Ram
Evolution

The value-for-money titanium Evolution driver is 460cc and designed to provide a large sweetspot for maximum forgiveness. Men’s lofts are 10.5° and 12° (right-handed only), and a ladies’ right-handed model comes with 14°.

Yonex
VMS

The VMS (women’s model pictured) features what Yonex calls Isometric Face technology, to enlarge the sweetspot by deepening the thickness of the face at the heel and toe. The result should be increased forgiveness and consistency.

Ping
i15

In relation to Ping’s range of drivers, the concentration is on workability with the i15, with the hosel positioned just slightly back from the clubface to promote penetrating trajectory and reduced spin. Available lofts are 8°, 9.5° and 11°.

Adams
Speedline F11

The ‘speed’ of the Speedline F11 is generated by Adams’ Velocity Slot Technology, incorporating a trio of channels on the sole and crown that combine to reduce drag by 35%. The centre of gravity has also been lowered to encourage a higher launch angle.

TaylorMade
Burner SuperFast 2.0

TaylorMade says the Burner SuperFast 2.0 is the lightest drive it has ever made, weighing 279 grams. Finished with a White, non-glare crown, the weight, long shaft and new low-drag aerodynamics of the club should promote faster swing speed (pictured is the women’s model).

PowerBilt
Air Foil

PowerBilt’s Air Foil is distinctive with its ‘Nitrogen Charged Technology’, which does come with R&A approval. PowerBilt ‘guarantees’ that pressurised nitrogen in the clubhead will add distance to tee shots.

Callaway
RAZR Hawk

Callaway’s RAZR Hawk features a ‘Forged Composite’ crown, for strength and improved weight distribution. The RAZR Weighting System allows a choice between Draw or Neutral models, and Hyperbolic Face Technology promises precision thickness.

Tour Edge
Exotics XCG-4

Made with a titanium clubface and sole, the Exotics XCG-4 features a crown and a pair of inserts made from amorphous carbon, as well as a pair of tungsten sole weights. The ultra-light carbon enables weight distribution to be improved from previous models, with Tour Edge promising an MOI that is 15% higher.

Benny RS21

The Benny RS21 features new weighting technology, with deep weighting at the rear of the clubhead and towards the heel, promising the optimum launch angle for golfers of all abilities. The RS21 is fitted with a Grafalloy ProLaunch shaft and a New Decade multi-compound grip.

John Letters
T9+

John Letters’ T9+ is built with a Beta Titanium clubface, which is promised to provide greater elasticity and strength than standard titanium, while ‘Feel Cell’ technology in the sole is designed to disperse vibrations at impact for improved feel.

Mizuno
JPX800

Mizuno’s Hot Metal technology is designed to maximise distance on shots struck below or above the centre of the clubface. A square set-up at address is intended to help banish pulled miss-hits without adjusting face angle.

Srixon
Z-Star driver

Srixon’s Z-Star driver is adjustable and features a ‘Starburst’ clubface of variable thickness to enlarge the sweetspot. Srixon recommends its S-T-A-R fitting formula: Speed – Trajectory – Alignment – Responsiveness.

Snake Eyes
685T

Snake Eyes’ 685T is built with a clubface of variable thickness, which Snake Eyes says makes the entire clubface the sweetspot. The result should be consistently fast ball speeds. Loft options are 9.5°, 10.5° and 11.5°.

Wilson Staff
DXi

Built with high-density tungsten rubber inserts, the higher the loft, the further back the weights are positioned in the DXi. Lower trajectories are promised from the 8° and 9° lofts, and higher launches from 10.5° and HL.

MD Golf
Seve Icon driver

MD Golf’s Seve Icon High MOI Ti driver now comes in White as well as Black. Perimeter weighting should aid stability and four lofts range between 9.5° and 12°.

Cleveland
Launcher Ultralite series

The Launcher Ultralite drivers come in three distinct weights, with Cleveland’s Right Weight Fitting System enabling golfers to select the correct model for their game. The series features the TL310 (weighing 310 g), the SL290 and the XL270.

Titleist
910 Series

Rory McIlroy has put the high-launching, 460cc 910D2 in play, while Ross Fisher has won with the low-spin, 445cc 910D3. The high-performance drivers feature patented Sure-Fit Hosel technology, allowing loft and lie to be independently adjusted.

Callaway
Diablo Octane Black

The Diablo Octane Black is made from ‘Forged Composite’, developed in collaboration with Lamborghini, and which Callaway promises to be the lightest, strongest and most precise material it has ever used.

Ping
K15

Ping’s Straight Flight technology sees more weight concentrated in the sole of the K15 driver, and near the heel with an external weight pad, which should encourage a square face at impact. The weight distribution is boosted by an ‘ultra-thin’ clubhead crown.

Nike
VR Pro

Behind the face of the VR Pro is its distinct ‘Variable Compression Channel’, which is designed to offer excellent ball speeds from outside the sweetspot. Nike’s STR8-Fit technology presents the golfers with 32 face angle options.

Cobra
S3

E9 technology features a tall, elliptical clubface with a bevelled perimeter, which is designed to provide an expanded ‘Sweetzone’. Adjustable Flight Technology enables golfers to select Open, Neutral or Closed face angle.

TaylorMade
R11

TaylorMade’s R11 addresses the ‘3 Dimensions of Distance’ via loft (adjustable hosel), face angle (adjustable sole plate weight) and flight path (adjustable heel and toe weights). A rounded crown should also reduce drag.

Cobra
S9-1

Cobra says its Hotter 9 Points technology is better than ever in its King Cobra S9-1 drivers, with the result being improved clubface efficiency, so better performance from off-centre strikes. The clubs also benefit from internal frequency tuning, with the intention of giving golfers a ‘satisfying combination of sound and power'. Ian Poulter plays the S9-1F on Tour, while Geoff Ogilvy and Camilo Villegas play the S9-1 Pro.

Benny

The Ben Sayers Benny comes in a bullet shape with a deep and low rear weight chamber and strategically positioned weight bars to promote the ideal, high launch angle, high MOI and low ball spin. The driver comes with either the Grafalloy Prolaunch Red Mid Kick Point shaft or the Aldila NV, and also with Golf Pride Multi-compound decade grips. All models are designed for right-handed men.

Ping
Rapture V2

Following the success of its original, premium Rapture range, Ping's Rapture V2 features a 460cc titanium clubhead with tungsten weights located near the heel and toe. The clubhead has a low centre of gravity in order to produce a high launch angle and low spin rate, with a high MOI. The club will is available in lofts of 9°, 10.5°, 12° and 13.5°.

Cleveland
HiBORE Monster XLS

The Monster XLS comes in Standard, Tour and Draw models, and has a clubface that is 16% larger than its XLS predecessor. Cleveland also claims that by lowering the crown, the centre of gravity has also been lowered, to produce the only face-centred sweet spot in golf.

TaylorMade
R9 460

TaylorMade has made a summer launch of the R9 460, to complement the R9 which came out at the beginning of 2009. The R9 460 has a larger head than the original R9, with a lower and deeper centre of gravity, with a view to providing golfers with greater MOI. The club's face angle can be altered via a bolt in the sole of the clubhead.

Titleist
909 Range

Titleist claims its new 909 series is its most comprehensive range of drivers to date. The 909 DComp is a 460cc, multi-material driver with a deep face and pear-shaped clubhead that is designed to produce a high launch angle with low to mid spin. The 909 D2 is also 460cc, and it is designed for a mid-launch angle, while the 440cc 909 D3 is geared for a mid launch angle and low spin.

Nike
SQ DYMO STR8-FIT

SQ DYMO STR8-FIT is the name of Nike's new family of drivers (just in case, the last bit is pronounced ‘straight fit'). The DYMO STR8-FIT and DYMO² STR8-FIT offer golfers eight options to alter the clubface, with three possible ‘closed' positions, two ‘neutral' positions and three ‘open' settings.

Nicklaus Golf
ML3

The ML3 features the brand's Dual Point Technology, which aligns the centre of gravity with the ‘optimal face flex point' for maximum trampoline effect. Nicklaus promises that its micro welding also delivers an ultra-durable construction and half the weight of traditional welding. Fujikura shafts are standard.

Longridge
Concept

The Concept is a 460cc square-headed ‘Forged Titanium Matrix' driver, which is designed with a view to increasing the MOI and therefore reducing twisting at impact with the ball. The men's model comes with a loft of 11° while the women's is 13°, and the driver is fitted with a regular flex, low-torque shaft. And no, we have not lost a digit from the recommended retail price, below.

Callaway
Big Bertha Diablo

Callaway's Diablo features ‘hyperbolic face technology', which means that the hyperbolic shaping of the clubface thickness is designed to give the club a larger sweetspot and improve the potency of off-centre strikes. The club comes in two clubhead models: Draw and Neutral.

Bridgestone
J33R

The J33R is built with a 460cc titanium clubhead, with an ultra thin crown wall section and tungsten weight in the club's tailing edge, to pull the centre of gravity low and deep, and to maximise the MOI. Fitted with the Aldila VS Proto 65 shaft and Golf Pride grip, the J33R comes in lofts of 8.5° 9.5°, 10.5° and 12°.

Wilson Staff
Smooth

The Smooth has a 460cc clubhead and features ‘variable face geometry', which is designed to deliver higher ball speeds across a larger area of the clubface. The Smooth also comes with ‘progressive internal weight distribution', so the higher the loft of the model, the further back the clubhead weight is pushed, to maximise stability.

Mizuno
MX-700 driver

The MX-700 driver has been built with a rolled Ti9 plasma welded face, which has been designed to add ball speed for strikes across the clubface, giving golfers greater consistency. The clubhead has a very low centre of gravity to encourage low spin strikes and a high ball flight.

Tour Edge
Exotics XCG-V

The Exotics XCG-V features a ‘V-shaped' titanium clubface and body, or ‘cup-face', an ultra-light magnesium crown and a heavier, high-density steel sole plate, and the three elements are brazed together for permanent bonding without welding. Tour Edge promises that the result is a larger clubface ‘hot zone' and great stability through impact.

MD Golf
Superstrong

MD Golf's Superstrong drivers come in three models: a standard shape for the competitive player, which is best suited to shot shaping; the offset model designed for golfers battling a slice; and the square head for golfers looking to maximise MOI. The drivers come fitted with Proforce 65 or UST Ultraflex shafts, and with UST's new multi-compound grip.

Go
C3

The C3 driver from Go is designed for the beginner or improving golfer. The forged, 460cc clubhead is made from a 7075 alloy and comes with 10°, 12° or 14° lofts for right-handed men, and in 12° for left-handers. The C3 is fitted with Fuko graphite shafts or True Temper steel shafts, and the ladies' model comes with either 12° or 14° lofts.

Snake Eyes
Viper XT

The new Viper XT features a bullet-shaped clubhead and contoured crown, to produce a low centre of gravity and high MOI. The CNC-milled clubface has been designed to provide fast ball speeds from all areas and the club comes with a screw weight at the rear of the sole that is interchangeable to alter launch angle.

Benross
Innovator X

The stretch bullet head shape of the Innovator X ensures its centre of gravity is low and deep, with a view to making the club as stable as possible through impact and to maximise forgiveness from off-centre strikes. The club comes with a pair of inter-changeable weights, which are designed to alter launch angle by up to 3°.
