First words...
Published:  10 December, 2008

The golf industry is warming up for a very eventful 2009, complete with a dose of turmoil.

For a start, the full ramifications of some major shifts in the trade will unfold, with TaylorMade adidas taking over Ashworth and with Greg Norman Collection converting its UK business to a licensed concern.

Callaway Golf Apparel, currently licensed to Ashworth, will now have to find a new home, and at the time of writing, the situation with Greg Norman Collection and MacGregor is about as clear as the legal bout between Titleist and Callaway.

The two equipment giants continue to take swings at each other like a pair of heavyweight boxers, but this might be a fight that ends without a clear decision on the saga of the Pro V1 and the Callaway patents.

With a bit of luck some of these murky waters might clear a little in the New Year - maybe even at Orlando - but whatever happens, and when it does, we will be sure to let you know.

It will be a New Year soon, and with it comes a new look for SGB Golf. As you will see from these pages, we have leapt into the 21st century with a re-design. We have also added a bit more variety to the content and, like all strong brands, we hope you agree that SGB Golf is evolving.

Have a great Christmas.
