Putters from the green baize
Published:  11 July, 2008

Spherical Blade's new range of 10 ‘curved face' putters were inspired by snooker.

S-Blade putters are designed with a North-South vertical curve on the face to enforce impact with the ball above its mid-point. Spherical Blade believe this gets the ball rolling with topspin and negates the skid and bobble. The theory is based on the same principle as a snooker player striking the cue ball above its equator to make the ball roll on.

A second curve, running across the the face, aims to stretch the sweet spot.

"Many golfers have experienced the awful sight of seeing their ball hop Dambuster-like across the green," says SB Managing Director Ian Smith. "This effect is neutralised by the S-Blade's unique curved-face design.

"We've seen irons and drivers become increasingly more forgiving - now we have introduced that dimension to putters."

The new collection was launched at this year's The Celtic Manor Wales Open and is being distributed throughout the UK by Sigma Golf. The putters are also available online at http://www.sphericalblade.com/.

ß The Emperor is a conventional blade shape with a durable polished stainless steel finish, matt metallic dark blue detailing and yellow sight line.
