The Met Office-backed web-based system uses cutting edge radar technology to predict thunderstorms, lightning strikes and rainfall within a 50-mile radius of the venue. It will be used at more than 400 tournament venues across country, at both at regional and national level, in a one-year deal.
http://www.weatherforgolf.co.uk/ lets golfers check the conditions seven days either side of the tournament - with half-hour updates fed through to a laptop at the tournament.
Before this, the PGA was reliant on phoning the Met Office for information.
